The Buck Institute for Aging on Research has announced the launch of a startup, Unity Biotechnology First Company, cofounded by Buck faculty member Judith Campisi. The company will develop medicines to treat age-related diseases and increase healthspan, the amount of time you live in good health.
Professor Campisi’s cofounders include CEO Nathaniel David, formerly chief science officer at Kythera. Funding comes from founding venture investor ARCH Venture Partners, with significant contributions from Venrock, WuXi, Mayo Clinic, Unity’s management team and others. The startup will be based in incubator space at the Buck’s Novato campus.
