Dr Emil Kakkis, the CEO of Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical in Novato, and president and founder of the Kakkis EveryLife Foundation, is nominated as a biotech Future Maker, as nominated by peers within the biotech community. Following broader biotech community voting, FutureMakers will be recognized at Bio 2016, the global event for biotechnology, taking place June 6-9 in San Francisco. As an advocate for research into rare diseases, Dr. Kakkis has helped bring longer life and hope to many patients, both through his scientific innovation and through his advocacy work with his EveryLife Foundation.
