San Rafael-based BioMarin is set to receive a $843,300 contract from the State of California’s Employment Training Panel to support workforce training for over 1,100 workers, including one-third new hires. This contract comes as part of the Employment Training Panel’s Job Creation Initiative, with Stewart Knox, the ETP’s Executive Director noting, “investing in the workforce offers great returns – including the expansion of as highly-skilled, well-trained workforce.”
Marty Richard, BioMarin’s Executive Director of Technical Operations Compliance, comments that “BioMarin is a leader in delivering therapies for chronic and degenerative genetic conditions. Ongoing technical training is a critical component of our industry and this training program will help us strengthen our workforce operations.”
This contract from the State of California follows news that BioMarin is building a new, three-story, 85,000 square feet research and development facility in San Rafael. The investment will assist BioMarin in in developing and retaining its manufacturing workforce in California.
