BioMarin Open New Research Building in San Rafael

BioMarin CEO JJ Bienaimé cut the opening ribbon on the company’s new 85,000 square foot research center on the company’s San Rafael campus, with Mayor Gary Phillips declaring February 9th to be BioMarin Day in the city, noting that “the research done here saves lives and today we celebrate that. BioMarin is bring all their research initiatives under one roof.”

Robert Baffi, BioMarin’s executive vice-president of technical operations commented to MarinScope.com that BioMarin scientists “now have a state of the art facility to conduct innovative research specifically designed with open spaces adjacent to the laboratories to facilitate scientific interactions.” Baffi estimated that expanding the San Rafael campus created more than 600 construction jobs.
